Abstract: | In educational matters, the impact that Covid 19 has had on Higher Education is of significant importance, due to the dimensions that the phenomenon of academic dropout has been reaching, the inequality in access to remote and virtual classes, the possibilities of connection of students and endless circumstances that make the laudable efforts implemented by educational institutions, seem to have no meeting points with the aspirations of students. As of the declaration of the universal pandemic on March 11 by the WHO, the organizations of each of the countries of the planet announced the respective measures to be taken depending on the alerts in each country, coupled with the recommendations of the highest authority of the world in terms of health. Education has had to face immense challenges in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. In record time, universities have had to adapt to remote teaching and both the Ministry and the Secretaries of Education have had to respond to the needs of the communities due to the closure of Higher Education institutions. This has led to conversations about the effects that this situation will have on a possible lag in the academic performance of students and a possible widening of the inequality gap in the quality of education. This context of emergency and physical isolation can have serious effects on the social and emotional development of students. It is clear that only a minority of the student population in Colombia has both the instrumental and affective resources to continue their learning processes in a virtual way. This means that the vast majority of students are experiencing difficulties due to the lack of connectivity and technological resources to be able to continue with their training, if they want to place themselves in an ideal setting. |
