Nuevos escenarios de la dignificación de las mujeres afrodescendientes a partir de su aporte a los derechos humanos en la constitución sociocultural del caribe colombiano

Abstract

This project analyzes the experiences, challenges, and contributions of Afro-descendant and Raizal women in Colombia’s Caribbean region, focusing on cities like Barranquilla. It explores their role in promoting human rights and fighting against racial and gender discrimination, which have historically marginalized their voices and contributions. Despite their active participation in the sociocultural development of the region, these women continue to face significant barriers to full recognition and dignity. Through the analysis of public policies such as Decree 2957 of 2010 and Law 1761 of 2015 (Rosa Elvira Cely Law), the study evaluates how these measures have promoted inclusion and protection for Afro-descendant women, though limitations remain in addressing the multiple forms of discrimination they face. The project highlights the importance of dignifying Afro-descendant women through their knowledge and lived experiences, recognizing their critical role in shaping a cultural identity that values ethnic diversity. From this central issue, two related studies were conducted to delve deeper into how these women navigate the social, economic, and political scenarios they encounter. In conclusion, this research seeks to spotlight how the contributions of Afro-descendant women to the recognition of human rights and the fight for equity have transformed social dynamics, fostering a more inclusive and representative society in Colombia's Caribbean region.
