Resiliencia Cultural y Diversidad Artística: ¿cómo las Madres de Plaza de Mayo y las Mujeres de Montes de María construyen paz y dignifican la memoria?

Abstract

This study offers a comparative analysis of the forms of resistance and struggle led by the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo in Argentina and the Women of Montes de María in Colombia—two female collectives that emerged in response to structural violence, forced disappearances, state repression, and internal armed conflicts. Using a hermeneutic-phenomenological qualitative approach, the research explores the strategies these women have employed to confront impunity, preserve historical memory, and demand justice and symbolic reparation. The findings reveal how art, culture, weaving, symbolic interventions, and community organization have become powerful tools for resistance and social reconstruction. These women have played a crucial role in peacebuilding and reconciliation processes. This study contributes to ongoing debates on human rights, transitional justice, and collective memory by highlighting the transformative role of women in contexts marked by sociopolitical violence.
